My June Obsessions

NIXON CHRON WATCH

What’s cool about all of the most coveted surf brands is that now they’re all transitioning over to the fashion realm — take Nixon and Quiksilver for example. Both have rolled out for Spring and Summer 2011 fashion oriented lines. These watches are INSANELY cool, with four or five variations, at a price point of $300 and up, there’s no mistaking Nixon’s new line of watches with Shark’s. Just saying. I know you all remember those.

MARC JACOBS FRANCESCA BAG

I’ll never ever get sick of Marc, even when he makes stupid ass “Mouse” hobo bags this summer — his Marc by Marc line has always been my favorite. It’s less pricey, very versatile and lasting pieces of both bags and shoes. I think Marc’s accessories for the Marc by Marc, however, are very “Hello Kitty” esque at this point. I want a white bag SO badly but I can’t figure out which one I want — this one hits all the right spots for me. I just have to purchase it sooner rather than later, that way, I can actually enjoy at least 3 solid months of use before it’s a fall faux pas.

NBC’S THE VOICE

So, I purposefully didn’t snap a photo of the judges even though they all rock — especially Adam and Cee Lo. There’s a reason for that, I am OBSESSED with Team Adam Levine — he nailed it with his picks of singers. What’s ironic is that I swore after Season, what, 3? Of American Idol I was DONE entirely with all singing reality shows — oh well. This one is amazing. I love the concept behind The Voice and I think the team with the most promise is Adam’s — Jeff Jenkins for me is going to be the leader of that group. We’ll see, he may crack under the “innovative/out of the box” requirement the show will force upon their top tier singers battlin it out.

SCOTCH AND SODA — MAISON SCOTCH ANCHOR TEE

One of the great things about my boufriend is his pushiness for getting me out of my comfort zone. I hate shopping, yes you heard right — so when he wanted to stop by Scotch & Soda last weekend, I was not a happy camper. I was pleasantly surprised, however, with the ADORABLE clothing there. The anchor tee in addition to this anchor/peace sign top won me over. I am now a loyal lover of Maison Scotch…. since I have ALWAYS been a lover of anchors and well peaces signs too. What can I say.

FITFLOPS

What’s funny about this obsession is the fact that this time last year I was making fun of everyone these odd looking sneaker/flip flops. I love these because the one thing I find to be missing in my Rainbow flip flops is some boost — while I wear enough heels, I do want a bit of a bump in my flip flops too. These help with balance, help shape your legs and fix back issues — count me in.

NEUTROGENA LIP SOOTHER LIP GLOSS

I love this lip gloss — I am a very very no thrill makeup type of person. I don’t need lipstick or colored lip gloss that makes me stick out like a sore thumb. I want something nourishing and glossy — this specific lip gloss really does “soothe” your lips with a minty cool refreshed after taste. LOVE IT.

JASON DERULO

Yes, I did screen shot a part of Jason’s new video, “Don’t Wanna Go Home.”  This video is…. absolutely….ridiculously…hot. I have no other words. In my opinion, Usher’s hotter younger less “worn out” self is Jason Derulo. His music is catchy, hits high in the charts and his dancing is just so good. I can’t help but crush a bit on this one.

TOMS DESIGNER ARTIST SERIES

I love Toms. I love all that the company stands for. I love how comfy they are. The latest line of Toms’ is so cool — the artist collection with splattered black and white kicks couldn’t be more innovative and lust-worthy.

SAY YES TO THE DRESS

I can’t say this is a new obsession whatsoever, however, my recent purchase of all of Season 6 has confirmed my love for the show. I think my favorite part about the show is my ability to, at this point, map out exactly how the timing of the show will be — keep out for the third bride-to-be popping in 5 minutes before each episode ends. Trust me, I know I’m right.

MARC JACOBS MOLLY PATENT WATCH

Having been one of my first big-girl purchases, I have to admit — I am head over heels for this watch. I have loved MJ since the beginning of time, however, my love for his sportswear/couture has wildly diminished over the years. I now stick only to liking his accessories and handbags. The gold accents and thick black band are just so hot.

 SCULLCANDY AVIATOR BLACK HEADPHONES

…. OH my god. I am in love with these head phones. I have been EYEING these down for months — well, big ugly alien looking head phones in general that is. After stealing my brother’s large head phones during my winter break, I knew I had to have a pair. These Scullcandies are expensive, I’ll forewarn but they make for amazing listening and they have SUCH a sleek and hipster look and feel.

LUCKY BRAND ABBEY ROAD OVER THE SHOULDER BAG

I love this bag — it’s practical, neutral and fun to wear with practically anything and it goes over your shoulder — LOVE. I think it allows the inner hippie in me to shine just, just a bit. For the style of the bag and the details in the stitching, it’s very decently priced. I want to throw on my Birkenstocks, ripped jeans and head out as we speak.

STILA STARFRUIT LIP GLAZE

What I love and have always loved about Stila’s lip glosses is their sheerness — they don’t make you look like you’re a little girl who snuck your way into your mom’s makeup bag. The selections of colors are amazing too and the gloss lasts on your lips for much longer than the rest of their competitors.

UGG RYLAN SLIPPER

I love these over the earlier slippers made by UGG solely because they are less “sleep time” ish and more practical. I don’t think I’d go further than four blocks from my apartment in these booties, but I can go outdoors with them since there is a hard sole. I like the look of these too — I wish I had more time, however, to wear the freakin’ shoes though!

SPECK WHITE IPHONE4 COVER

My obsession with changing my cell phones wallpapers/fonts/ringtones carries over to other things in my life such as… the need to get new covers for my phones on a bi-monthly basis. I had a sick black/grey hard shell earlier this year, however, having two black phones in my bag makes for misplacing my phone EVERY time I search for them.

My Holiday 2010 Wish List

GEOART NYC ring

I found this in NY Magazine’s Holiday Gift Guide, which is ironic, because I tend to deliberatly NOT like anything that other people recommend I buy for fellow loved ones. How do you know what my hippie, free spirited, totally anti social mother would enjoy for the Holidays? A magenta floral nail file, NY Mag, is not one of them. Try again. They did woo me with this piece, which is actually custom made for the New York City Historical Center — priced under $50 dollars, amazing find.

 MARC BERNSTEIN JEWELRY

I first came across Marc’s work while living in Boston. One of my favorite local shops in Boston was called Mint Julep, great unique finds in that store. Two years ago I came across a wrap bracelet of his there, I literally have yet to take it off. I asked my mom for another one two years later — that’s saying something. Most of his bracelets range from mid $80’s – 150 which to be honest, is nothing for what type of quality and style you get from his pieces.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS iPHONE COVERS

Yup… have and will always been a devoted MJ fan. I think he falls off his fashion rocker sometimes, but nonetheless, he knows how to be kitchy, young and rebellious all at the same time. I think a lot of his Marc by Marc accessories are cheap shit, but sometimes, you spot a diamond in the rough. Yes, I just went there. I think a lot of his iPad covers and iPhone covers are very “Gorillaz” ish… very SoHo to say the least. I dig, MJ, I dig….

TOY STORY 3 (AND SHREK 3) on DVD

Hm… yes I do like animated films made by Pixar and Dreamworks. No, I don’t like little cute dogs or babies. I think it’s something about the political and adult undertones of these movies that has kept me an avid watcher for years and years. Shrek, in general, was never intended to solely be a “kid’s movie” — it had so many lines that were in fact aimed at adult viewers, not for the kids. I think the latest installments of both were the best and nailed the happy coffin closed for me on the best animated films made in my lifetime (thus far).

 NARS HOLIDAY NAIL POLISH COLLECTION

When did I become obsessed with nail polishes you may ask? I think it began when I started my job working alongside 100+ other type A alpha women who had perfectly filed and polished nails every day of their lives. There is some sense of thrill, I will say, when you throw on random cool ass colors of nail polish. Like for instance, I am currently rocking OPI Gold shiny glittery laquer. Who cares if it’s gaudy and I’m sick of it in a day? That’s the magic of NAIL POLISH REMOVER my friends.

STEVE MADDEN’S MULTI GLITTER PUMPS

Ok, so this may look to you a lot like shoes you’d see on a hooker hosted up on Sunset Boulevard, but believe me… they’re so hot. I also love glitter during the holiday times and what a better way to spruce up um…. virtually every thing you wear? Then to throw on obnoxiously high, obnoxiously over the top shoes.
